I just ordered a BBK O/R H pipe from 5.0 Resto today and was just wondering if any of the other 96-98 Cobra guys have these? Am I going to need the O2 Sensor Extension Kit like this? Mustang O2 Sensor Extension Kit (86-09) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

Is there anything else I would need for the install? Thanks guys

My old 97 had an o/r x pipe, but I know for a fact that I didnt have to get extenders. On my 03 that I have now, I did have to get the extensions when I had the Mac o/r H for stock headers...

I had it on my 96 and did not need extensions. I did need the MIL eliminators though. I didnt have a programmer so I couldnt turn them off
I was never able to get the center hangers on eaither. I fought and fought with them but gave up. Didnt affect how low it hung and no rattles so I said screw it.

Well I guess I'll just wait for them to show up. I should be seeing them friday, and hopefully I wont need the extenders.

As for the O2's in the back, they are going away thanks to my new Livewire

Now I just have to figure out how to set up a couple wideband O2's and get those hooked to the tuner for some real time A/F readouts, then I will be able to play with the timing and WOT fuel settings.

I'm assuming I will have to wire the wideband's to the ECU as well as the tuner, I just dont know how im going to set that up yet. The SCT forums seem to be pretty dead so I guess I will have to continue my search on that info. Seems like someone else would have that setup or at least know something about it Unfortunately I am not anywhere near a tuning shop or even a performance shop, being way out here on the Olympic Peninsula

I needed extensions on my 96 ONLY BECAUSE I had long tube headers. If you have stockers and you ordered a pipe for stockers you will not need those. BTW...the pipe fit better than stock. I could have slammed my car to the ground and still had plenty of clearance, even with longtubes.

You can use the rear O2 bungs for the wide band O2s. I have heard on here that you want them closer to the front ones but its only 2' difference and the two shops I spoke to in Dallas both said that location is fine and when they tune theirs sits in the tail pipe anyway

And no, the wide band does not connect to the factory computer. They are simply a monitoring device for you. If you are running two then you need to set up a toggle switch to switch between them if you are only running a single gauge. You then take the gauge analog output and hook it to the Livewire so you can data log.

So if I want to have a wideband for each side then I'll have to cut in a spot for the stock style o2's so it doesn't mess up the ecu?

If you are using the Livewire to disable the rear O2s then that is where you install the wideband O2s. The computer only uses the front O2s for adjustments anyway. The rear O2s are just there to make sure the front ones are working.
