I am looking to order my exhaust in the next week or so. I need to figure out what mid pipe I need. I want a (legal) VERY LOUD DEEP TOUGH exhaust sound.

-I am 100% sure on the BBK L/T headers and Magnaflow Magnapacks!

-My only question is should I go with X or H with cats?

-What will be the difference in sound verses the 2?

I was going to go with the x pipe because of better hp gains, but I dont think it will have that much more hp over the H(2 more hp?) I was also told that the x has a raspy nascar sound and the H has more of a muscle car sound. I was also under the impression that magnaflow magnapacks should be used with x pipe. What your input?

Nooooo, dont get the Magnapacks with that setup! I have BBK LT's with a BBK O/R H, I use to have Magnapacks with this setup. Terrible sounding! While its SUPER loud, you lose all of the muscle car tone! Its deep below 3k RPM's, but once you go over it sounds like a machine gun going off inside a tin can of tuna, all the way up until about 5k. After 5k it screams and sounds good again, but its in that 2700-5000 range where you do most of your driving that it just does not sound right, it doesnt sound deep like a Mustang should. Believe me I like LOUD, but this was rice loud, I just could not stand the tin metal noise. It will sound the same if not worse with an O/R X. I ended up switching my Magnapacks to the traditional Magnaflows a week later, sooooooooo much better! It is VERY deep and mean sounding throughout the entire RPM range, never changes. It is also nice and loud when you get on it, still sets alarms off. And when your just cruising at lower RPM's its quiet in the interior and does not drone. TrueBlue03 I believe, on this board, has an O/R H and Packs, and he likes it, but he also has that same tin metal noise. Believe me stay away from the Packs with an O/R Midpipe, if you want DEEP.

I would go with something besides packs. I hear negative things about the bbk x as well. not all x-pipes just bbk.

now I would look at the dr. gas x and borla stinger since you are running cats. this will give you a very agressive nascar like sound.

unless you like the truck with the muffler cut off sound of the packs. IF so (and some do) it will be pretty loud.

Do you think it would sound bad with a catted x?

I have a BBK off road x-pipe with flowmaster 40's. I love the sound like no other mustang i've heard. It is a very exotic (NASCAR) type sound but it sounds so MEAN! There are major negatives to the BBK x-pipe though it doesnt fit. We had to try for hours to fix all the exahust leaks in that thing eventually had to but new bolts in the exhaust manifolds to get it to seal up right. Great sound just a gigantic PIA to put on.

get a VRS catted X if you really want an X. they're made specifically for BBK LT's, come in either stainless steel or aluminum, are a True-X, and the price isnt bad.

im not a fan of the packs either, just my opinion though.
