My girlfriend has been calling my bluff lately, I just started researching diamonds and have an unsettling feeling in my stomach.

I'd like to hold her off for at least another year but seems like I'm at the age where everyone is getting married...

Congrats man!

I'm in the same boat. Been with my g/f for 5 years and both her and my family are giving us the what for every trip. Now I would rather not visit either. LOL

I've been down this road before, and looks like I'm headed that way again. The good news. This one likes cars, and wants a 94-95. Only bad news with that is finding one we can afford. We can't go too wild... TWO project cars is one too many.

Welcome back!

Mine scares her now. She used to race it at the track, but she hasn't asked to drive it once since the new engine.

I was talking to my buddy about this and he said:

Think of all the money and stuff you have. Now imagine yourself with only half of all that money and stuff. If you think you'll still be happy with half of your money and stuff gone, then you are ready to be married.

Same goes for your time.... your free time is her free time. Your Christmas is now split with her family. Your right to eat where you want to, is now gone. Etc, etc.

Cut the sex in half too.

well congrats....just make sure she's the right one....since i just got divorced....lol but its true about the half money and 2 project cars....we both have 95 cobra's...and whatever money we had extra after bills we split...i spent mine on my car and she put her's in the bank.....everything seemed fine, but when i spent my money on my car and not her car or even her....then we had problems...she wanted me to spend my portion on her instead of what i wanted.... also the sex will slow down in a few years....lol

how old are/were you guys when you got engaged and how long have you been with your significant other? I'm just curious... I'm about to turn 24 and I'm thinking about it with my girl. I'll probably wait awhile though lol. It is a big( kinda frightening) step considering when you see all the problems a lot of people go through. My parents have been married for 25+ years so that definitely gives me hope that relationships can last that long if it is the right person. It justs scary to think that so many people get married and think that person is the "one" and it ends up not working out. It's like do you really ever know...

I got married between my Freshman and Sophomore years of college. Mainly did because we were getting screwed on financial aid. We could have waited... had 10 times the amount of loans at the end of school. Or get married then, and save a ton of it. I should have waited. LOL

There was one good thing out of all of it. I have a great daughter who just turned 9.

I'm 21 bout to be 22, and we've been together since halfway through my freshman year in highschool. ...so what like 6.5 years.

and the diamond i got here Adam wasn't that much... i spent bout $1100 on the ring and weddingband set, and i picked a diamond that was internally flawless, but only a quarter karat. it fits her hand perfectly! i figured she'd rather have a sweet smaller diamond than a huge yellow one haha. and she loves it and her mom has a karat diamond and said she was jealous! haha! so bigger isn't always better

Dude I'm Irish, thats my life motto.

Seriously though... its probly gonna be a ring in the spring (or early summer)

To the other guy that asked, I've been with mine for 21 months. We've been living together since August and we get along great, so I'm running out of excuses. Plus she knows how much loot I make, which is pretty good for being 24. No way I'm ducking this one.
