All, not a real big Tech issue, but an issue worth bringing up to help solve problems that you may be having with your car. For instance, this past week I just did some work to my daily driver, 1991 Taurus SHO. I never really had to drive the car, as I was on vacation so it did a lot of sitting. Anyway, on the way to work this morning, the car was hesitating, almost like the key was being turned off and it did it about 6 - 7 times. The issue that it was having seemed like an electrical issue, sporadic, comes on, goes away, etc. Like I said, I did some work to the car and had the MAF and CAI removed, had the battery removed, and moved/re-routed some of the harness in the engine compartment. After pondering this all day I work, I popped the hood to take a look and guess what I found, something very simple. The negative battery lead was a little loose on the battery. You know the type, the kind where the gap closes by the bolt and you're still not completely tight on the battery post. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is check the simple stuff first, the items where you were just working/messing with, as these can very easily be the areas where the problems exist. Or you can post your issues and we can try to assist!

So what you're saying is you posted your issue on a SHO forum, and they laid into you when they found out it was the negative terminal, so you want to save our members from that?

Thanks for the PSA.

Nope, I didn't post this to the SHO Forum. I figured I would check the simple stuff first, before I made a fool of myself to the other forum members. Like I said, I just wanted to pass the word. I work with Technicians on a daily basis who cannot figure out problems on the machines that they are working on, and a lot of times the problems can be something very simple. Just trying to save others some humiliation and worries!

Once upon a time, I drove my brother's 80 Corvette to a buddy's house so we could change the rear main seal and pan gasket.

About two blocks away, the car completely shut down. Tried everything, figured the fusible link blew on the starter. Had it towed to my buddy's house (he lived uphill).

The next morning, my buddy checked the fusible link, did continuity tests on a bunch of circuits, couldn't figure out a thing.

Went to try a different battery, just for kicks, and the negative battery bolt wasn't even completely hand tight. (Side terminal, so the cable wasn't making contact).

My "little" brother, 6'5, 300+ lbs, has a tendency of breaking things. When I taught him how to change the battery, I told him not to torque it too tight, cuz those bolts snap easy.

He went the opposite direction.
