Beggining My Engine Upgrades

First off let me say hello....Hello. I have recently purchased a 1994 Cobra with 55K and I am itching to get this thing moving down the road faster. My suspension is already in the works so I have taken care of that first. I have have been around Mustangs for a while especially the 5.0. I am also a work as a contrustion equipment tech/mech so I am not a newb when it comes to wrenching on a vehicle.

Now, what I am looking for is possible engine combos for my car. Being as the mileage is low on the car I want to keep the stock bottom end for a while. For now I would like to shoot for something in the mid 12 sec range. I am going with a street suspension and 315 DR in the rear so I will have some traction. The car also has 3:55's so that helps. I am curios to know what things work well together. What part of the Cobra setup can I keep. For instance if I get a good PnP on the upper and lower intake what are its limitaions. I believe the car comes with 1.7RR's stock correct? Here were my thoughts. I was going to do GT40X heads and maybe a B or E cam. I eventually want to run a SC so I want the setup to be run will with mild boost. The care is not a daily driver, but I do want it to be some what tame on the street. Also, any info on what else will need to be upgraded as well. Like fuel and ignition upgrades. I am looking for specific recommendations so I can start getting the budget ready. Thanks guys!

AT the top you'll see a sticky saying 95/94 GT/Cobra FAQ section. It has a lot of combos and what they run, and what heads/cam/intake they used.

For instance if I get a good PnP on the upper and lower intake what are its limitaions.

A PnP cobra (upper&lower) could hang with pretty much any stock aftermarket intake from what I've seen

For what you pay going with better head like TrickFlow TW heads, AFR 165's, Edelbrock performers. They are all with ion the same price range.

Ford letter cams are outdated there are other cams that will preform better imo. But the stock cam can get you into the mid 12's boosting

Fuel pump (walboro 255lph forced induction), fuel injectors (36lbs), MSD 6 AL, colder spark plugs with 32 gap (Autolite work well), larger throttle body 70/75mm, Pro-M 80mm (matching the injector size), long tubes headers, H pipe (X pipes make just a few more hp but have a higher pitched tone). That's all I got good luck and use the search button it is your friend (sometimes)
