alright, whenever i go out in the morning to start my car, after i start it the belt squeaks, but once the car warms up it doesnt squeak anymore. i know this is probably a noob questoin, but what can i do to get it to stop squeaking.
I would make sure that the pullies are in proper alignment. If one is off-set or crooked, it can create some screach till the belt warms up and is able to conform a little better. Is the belt glazed?
Yeah, make sure the pullies are perfectly aligned with the other pullies. Like stand above the air box and look across the motor so you can see all the pullies lined up in a row. Or use a machinist's edge to check them.
The belt is decently tight, right?
Try this - that "adjuster" spring loaded thing on the top of the engine has a pulley on it - carefully spray some WD40 in the hub on front and rear of it (use the straw) - usually shuts up the squeek -- if not you can try to spray on some "belt dressing" -- I just use a LITTLE WD40 instead of belt dressing as it is always in the garage - works wonders on ALL belts - just don't over do it.
