Bent axle on 5 lug conversion

my broher tells me that it looked as of my tire was wobbling as he was driving behind me. Well i get it home, jack it up and put in in drive and sure enough my passanger side axle must be bent because the entire rim moves back and forth. Well my question is what axle do i need to pick from a junk yard. I would think any 5 lug SN95 mustang would work. Also how hard is it to pull an axle?

You need an axle shaft from a Ford Ranger. The axles in the SN95 are longer than standard fox axles. You can only use one side from the Ranger's but I'm not sure which. Pulling the axle is easy. Pull the diff cover, remove the pin bolt, pull out the pin, push in the axle a little bit, remove the c-clip, remove the axle.

It depends what axles you used for the conversion.

Now might be a good time to replace the pair with a set of hardened axles in Fox length.

well im not trying to spend much money. I didnt do the conversion so i dont know what axles were used. Its a stock rear end with drum brakes if that matters. Im sure they are 28 spline. i want to just pull an axle from the bone yard. just need to know what cars or trucks to look for.

Anybody thought to have him check the wheel? I'll bet it's been against a curb, or went through a pot hole or two. Take the wheel to a tire shop, have them put it on a balancer. I'll bet your wheel wobbles in and out there too.

I agree, check the wheel first.
Bent axles are pretty rare, most times they break.

Have a tire shop pull the tire off and run the wheel on the balancer, i wouldn't be surprised if it had a serious hop in it.

It's fairly easy to bend some modern wheels since the spokes are 100% on one side, it leaves no bend protection on the inside.

Here is a video of the bent axle. The axle says RANGER on it in orange marker so it must have been pulled out of a junk yard and was bent already. So im looking for a driver side axle from a ranger with a 4 cyclender or 3.0 right? what years?
