Bent valve? Head gasket? IDK! :(

The other day I was driving home and I really got on it on the on ramp and (bad karma?) my car sounded like I had just run something over and there was this loud rumbling I could feel under acceleration. I could also hear it backfiring and there was a noticeable loss of power. Before I got off the freeway, though, it seemed to have gone away. I stepped on it again today to see if it would do it again, and sure enough it did! But it goes away after a while, I guess until I step on it again. Only does it if I reach maybe up to 4k+.

Anyone have any thoughts on what this might be, to point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Check your spark plugs, not sure of your mods but it sounds like you may not be getting a good enough spark and when u finally do BAM all that gas ignites. This is only a hunch but a great place to start is checking all the plugs. I had detenation a long time ago that melted the arcs on the plugs that caused this.

Also a good way to check for a bent valve is hooking up a vacuum gauge, watch the needle to see if it shakes or flickers around a lot. If so not good.
