I know this has been beat to death, and i've searched and read through the forums. My motor has had trouble with low oil pressure and smoking, so I decided to tear it down since i'm already head over heels in this project. It needs a hone, new rings, and might as well change the bearings.
My question is what rings would you go with? My motor has .040 over pistons (forged i'm pretty sure) and i'm going to shoot a 150 shot of go-go juice through a carb plate (eventually). I'll be running AFR 185 heads and somewhere close to 10:1 compression, and a 750cfm holley carb.
Anyone have suggestions to point me in the right direction? I'm new to an engine rebuild (my first one) and I don't know what all is out there for the best combo. Also, i'm on a budget so I can't spend a whole lot unless I have too.
What would cause this uneven burning and suit buildup? I'm thinking rings gone bad.
