best cam to run with TFS

the TFS kit is in my room and ready to slap on, but while talking to my buddy- he said that he ran an X303 on his TFS with 1.7's. which got me thinking- maybe i should run a bigger cam/lifters.

i dont care about the ride quality- i thoroughly enjoy a very rough and loud idle that gets attention.

maybe an X cam would satisfy that desire ?

The TFS stage 2 (224*\232* .542\.563) is comparable with lift to the X303 (224*\224* .542\.542) but has a better exhaust lift (which means more power) and is actually designed for the TFS heads so I recommend going with the TFS cam shaft. And if you want more lift I'd just run the TFS stage 3 cam (236*\248* .574\.595) with 1.6:1 ratio roller rockers instead of the 1.7:1 RRs unless you already have them on your car).

is this on the stock bottom end?? if so the stage II could have some p/v clearence issues, and the stage 3 DEF will. If you plan on upgrading to those cams and have the streetheat heads, you would probably want to upgrade the springs. just my .02 cents. but the stage 2 seems like a descent cam for the money. its better than the X.

Half the board will call me a dumbass for saying this but I think you should go with the TFS stage 1 that comes with the kit. You will make a guaranteed 300+ to the wheels and that's not bad by any means. I really believe that sometimes less is more.

89white50, I assumed he would check P\V clearance and take the appropriate steps on a build like that..but I guess I shouldn't assume! :stick: . Personally I'd not run a stge 3 on the street, but I was comparing the specs he threw up with regards to the X cam with 1.7s.

QDRHRSE, I'm with you, I like the stage 1 for a daily driver so I don't think you're crazy!
