Well after reading both of those tests and realizing the test car allready had longtubes, x pipe and catback, and it still only made 7 hp it seems like alot of money for something thats not gonna make 7 hp on a stock engine.

Think the money would be better spent on U/D pulleys or exhaust? For 430 bucks for the Accufab plenum and t/b I could buy a UPR X-pipe, two Magnapacks and dumps off ebay, and nab the Steeda U/D pulleys.

Even though it doesnt make as much power, the C&L unit is still appealing... For 120 bucks it is still a few HP, which is hard to beat now a days.

Get the BBK underdrive pulleys. I got them for my '98 GT for like $130 from Summit Racing and the results were pretty noticeable, even on that ol' pig. Not to mention that they dressed up the engine pretty nice too. That leaves $300 bucks to put on exhaust mods. You'll get a lot better HP/Dollar going that route, unless of course you've already got some gears which is the first mod I always recommend (besides K&N filter). A nice set of 3.73s or 4.10s will really be sweet on that GT.

The only thing the test proved is that a 75mm TB/P make more power then a 70mm set-up !!!!

I think it proved that the accufab also flows much more air than the ones tested. great mod if you decide to do F/I in the future. I have not been able to find any flow data on BBK the GMS or the PP plenum so I didn't buy it..

Arent they the piggypack kind though? I was told a few times that it was riskey running a piggyback set of pulleys on a 4.6 due to it causing harmonic vibrations and destroying the inernals of the engine. I was also told that piggybacks on 5.0's are fine since they are more inernally balanced or something.

If they replace the harmonic balancer than its all good is what ive been told.

Is that ass backwards or what?

I have heard that the steeda udp set has a harmonic balancer.
And you can get a wads more power with an electric water pump than with udp's.

The BBKs are NOT piggyback units. They're aluminum billet units and I never had an issue with them. They also look very nice installed.

With the BBK (and the Steeda), you get 3 pulleys. One for the crankshaft (harmonic balancer), one water pump and one alternator pulley.

It's really your choice as the Steeda's are pretty nice but they are priced considerably higher than the BBK's.

accufab made the most power before the BBk came out. have not seen the data on the BBk as I already had my accufab.

TB size depends on which plenum you buy. there is no one size fits all. the c&l preformed better with the 75mm. the accufab flowed the same with both 70mm or 75mm.

My .02 is look on ebay for something used. it is just a block of aluminum. I got my accufab plenum with bbK TB for $300 to my door and it had been used for dyno run only. was not even dirty.

accufab has more power lower in the band. peak numbers are not as important as average for you car being faster in the end. new they are kind of spendy though.

Ok, I read the tests that Falcon Guy had mentioned. The most HP gained was with the Accufab plenum, and Accufab 70mm TB... Why didnt the 75mm TB make more power? Would it be better to get a 70mm TB instead of the 75MM one..?

BigT... Where did you get that setup from? Thats a very nice price.

I got it about 11/2 years ago after read an article in mm&ff. I cant recall the phone # to his shop, but if u do a search on modulat depot/plenums, it will show up in some of the posts, as well as an article about his setup.

Professional Products - Any good

I have seen a bunch of these on ebay, and they are about half the price of the Accufab or the BBX setups.

Anyone heard of the company and know anything about them?

Professional Products - POWER. Is the name that is on the parts.

300-400 dollars for 7 hp ? You guys are kidding right ? Your going to notice a difference of 7 hp ? I would think gears and ud pullies would make a much more noticable difference....

I got the professional products TB & plenum. It is really good quality, I had no problem with the installation with the exception of the cruise cable. But all in all it was easy to install. I thought it was a good buy, you get a few less horse power than the accufab, but only 1 or 2 hp. I think its worth it. I felt a difference in the in acceleration. I dont think its worth spending all that money for a plenum and tb, for only 7-10 hp. I paid $250 for my combo. Im happy!

Yep! But where have you seen proof that it offers a few less than an accufab setup? I figure with how close the design in plenums is buying the cheapest one possible then port matching it to the intake manifold and throttle body and polishing it is the best bet - I did it and am happy with the results!

I have not seen any proof, that is why I think it is a good buy. For the hp you are getting on these combos, I think its not worth spending all that much. Just my .02. If you could find something less than go for it, and let us know. That is how we learn what is a good product. Im just responding to his professional products question.

Yeah, sorry, I know lol. I agree with you 100% (I have their 75mm tb), I was just wondering if you had seen anything saying it didn't gain as much, I haven't seen any dyno's of PP plenum/tb's on our cars.

And I did get my setup for less, $170 total shipped to my door. No-name "satin" plenum from ebay for $70, then brand new professional products 75mm tb for 100. Works great!

As far as I know, the better known plenums will fit a 70mm TB as well as a 75mm TB.

Damn... is there really that much of a tourqe gain from the BBK setup? Thats very nice. The Accufab only made 7 ft lb's of tourqe.

Tourqe is more fun than HP, haha.
