get some 4.30 gears and you will stay with him a bit, but he will eventually walk past you pretty good. You need to put a supercharger or maybe a shot of nitrous to hang with him even more.

Yeah, gears are probably your best bet. Realistically, there isn't one item under $500 that will let you hang with an 03/04 once they start reeling you in.

I say a good NOS setup. That's going to give you the most hp for the money. But if he puts any decent mods on his car your just going to be playing catch up. Supercharger is way out of your price range at this point.

Best prices I could find for the brands.

Nitrous Express $630

ZEX $612

Venom $650

Nitrous Works ??? Stage I $509(Best Price) to $700

There is no way im am putting that cheaters gas in my car i want to beat him with engine power. The 4.30 gears are kinda high because this is my everyday car not just my drag car. But the super or turbo charger is in my plans for the future.

Here we go again. 4.30 is not a terrible gear for a Cobra. At 75 on the interstate I am right under 3000 rpms! This past summer I drove to North Carolina 1200 mile round trip with a/c on half the time and I averaged around 24 mpg. Not bad for having 4.30's. If you are thinking about going with a forced induction then yeah, 4.30s may be a little much, but you should seriously do some research on the topic of gears. Don't listen to the old gearheads who will tell you that its to much gear for any daily driven car. Hell, my car is my daily driver and I love it with the 4.30 gear.

Hmm well if NOS isn't your thing, which I don't blame you, what were you expecting to do with only $500 and such a large gap in hp?

When your dad's not looking, swap out the drivetrains and then you'll be all set.

If you only have $500 there is no way you will beat him past 80mph.

The only chance you have is to get 4.30s and a set of BFG Drag Radials. If you come outta the hole hard and hook he'll be seeing your taillights till 80~mph. Then he'll rape the **** outta you soon as he hits mid 3rd.

It is not that I only have $500. Its that I only have $500 dollars right now and want to start seting up my car to beat him. I know I am not going to be faster than him with only $500 dollars, you dont need to tell me this. I will have plenty of money into the car later on I just want a mod maybe somebody has heard of that will make it worth the wile to buy now if not its just more money I am saving for later on.

I say 4.10's right now. They are good for highway use b/c your car revs. You wont beat him but it will put you closer to him....what do you expect for $500 you know.

if gas is cheating then so is boosting, if your looking to beat the 04 on engine power get some 4.56's and some slicks and learn to drive it, and maybe you might beat it in the 1/4, like someone said above nitrous is the best bang for the buck

Here's the only real way to beat him for under $500... In fact it's totally free. Steal his keys!

Who ever it was who asked about seeing the 04 cobras needs to see my dads. He has that cameleon purple black blue paint with chrome cobra R at 18 inches it is so tight. I am no expecting much for $500 but i didnt know if some body had a mod out there they knew of that would help me out. There is a big difference in cheating when it comes to nitrous and supercharging it.

Yeah, you beef up the 01 and older Cobra's, but remember, that it will only take around 1k to take an 03 Cobra into the low 12's and 450 hp range. The 03 Motors are strong!

Those 03's are thorns in the side of every 2001 and earlier cobra owners....ford is just outdoing themselves more and more.....soon the z06 will have nothing on the 2005.
