hey guys was curious to hear some opinions and maybe some numbers on exhausts. I'm looking to get a really loud 50 state legal ie. cats in, exhaust with a really old school muscle sound, but i also want it to have the most power gains. Anyone have any idea's, dyno numbers or brands they could recommend? It's going on a 2v 4.6.

My Idea: Hooker LT's, Catted H-Pipe (brand unknown),to 3" Mac or Pypes?

anyone have this setup or similar?

LT headers are not legal in 50 states.

BBK makes a decent LT header, if you go that route. Mufflers are really subjective, everybody likes something different. You will gain 20-25rwhp NA with a good LT, catted mid pipe setup.

I like my mac LTs. As for the rest you will gain more with an X pipe (I would suggest VRS, Dr. Gas or Magnaflow) over H and go with a strait through muffler like SLP LMIIS, Magnapacks, regular Magnaflows or Stingers.

a lot of the "old school muscle" sound <> power. In other words, that bad-ass sounding hot rod is probably dog slow compared to the relatively quiet car sitting next to it with a more efficient set-up. Big pipes are loud, but bigger does not equal better in exhaust.

A friend had a very nice '67 fastback 289 Mustang GT that sounded seriously killer, but it ran mid 15's at best. When we both had our cars someplace, invariably people would come up and compliment his car, then tell me my '03 GT was slow compared to his "monster." This was always awkward lol.

In other words, loud generally equals slow.

thanks for the input so far guys. ok if not 50 state leagal then at least cross canada leagal i dont think ill be moving into the states anytime soon no offence just not my kinda place, anyways as for sound.. if loud is slow im looking to get the loudest "old school" sound i can but the most power gains.

i am looking into getting some nice cams for it, im thinking a stage 2 or 3 crower cam but i know for fact i am going to put a KB 2.1 supercharger on it and eventually pump it up to 14PSI

They may be a "quiet" muffler, but Hooker Aerochambers are one of the best sounding mufflers and they flow really well.

You may come to find that the bad ass really loud car you've built gives you a headache at 2k RPM on the highway... if you do, get the Hookers.
