Alright boys and girls. I am getting closer to blower install time and need to get plugs. I have always just bought the copper version of whatever was supposed to be for my year/model car but realize with boost I may need a different heat range and such.

So this is for a 4V 4.6 running a Kenne Bell 2.2L non-intercooled blower with boost at 8-9lbs. I am open to suggestions.

I run autolite 103's. But my heads are fully threaded. if you have half height threaded heads, which unless your heads are 2004+ 4v they are half height. Use copper and 2 stages colder than stock for anything more than 10#'s

Still have 98 B heads on it. Now I have to find numbers. If I tell the people at the local parts place "Two heat ranges colder" I will just get a blank stare. :rlaugh:

I know most people will recommend the NGK TR6s, which are copper and two stages colder than stock, for higher boost levels. I am running NGK TR55s, which are platinum and 1 step colder than stock, on 7-8(on a good cold night) pounds of boost with no problems.

Yup. I know exactly what you mean. My tuner was the one that set me straight on the plugs, and he said that the TR55s are fine for "lower boost levels", whatever that exactly means, and I know tons of people say TR6s for higher boost levels. When I finally made up my mind on the TR55s, and went to Advance to buy them, the guy goes, "NGK? You know you aren't supposed to use them on an American car right? Only Japanese cars." I said, "Well, my tuner, who has a 1500 horsepower 8 second street car, says you can." He turned around and went and got the plugs for me. :rlaugh:

Cant use them on American cars huh? :rlaugh: I hate auto parts stores. :nonono:

Well crud. Now I dont know if I should go 1 or 2 steps colder then.

i thouht tr6 was one stage colder. That's what the computer at the parts store said at least. List from moddedmustangs.com:

I am running tr6 in my blown 01 and they are great. Gapped them at 0.35. When I has Stock heat range Autolite coppers gapped at 0.54 the car had alot of spark blowout and would run horrible at WOT under boost.

You should run a colder plug with forced induction however there is no need to go with anything other than copper unless you want to be able to leave the plugs in for years which is stupid anyways. Go with copper, replace annually. You will also have to close the gap, I run mine at .032

DO NOT use Bosch or Denso plugs.

I ran NGK TR6's in my 95GT with 13lbs. I had Motorcraft plugs (2 rangers colder) in it before and it ran about the same with both plugs. I didn't notice any difference.

Will that KB fit under a stock Mark hood?

I hope it fits under the hood. So far all the guys I know running a KB on a second gen Mark VIII have been able to fit them in. Its the first gen guys that need a cowl hood.

Where did you find such a nice Mark? The ones I get in here for parts and even the ones on the road still are ratty POS's. I had two nicer cash 4 clunkers Mark's come in here, but the others I've had throughout the years were rats.

I searched long and hard to find this one. Shopped for about, i dunno, maybe 6 hours total. :p

They are all over out here in nice shape. This one was a one owner car and fairly low miles though. I have done my fair share to it. Lets see if I can remember.

Also sometime this Summer I hope to have it repainted as the car had a dent in it I had fixed but am very unhappy with the color match behind the passenger door. Plus the front and rear bumpers have been repainted.

I have to say laser.. you have one of the nicest marks i've ever seen. When you parted the green one i thought that was a mistake but boy was I wrong. I love it. When i go and look at marks in stock form they do nothing for me, but yours is just sex man. :nice:
