What is the best overall shifter out for a 2002 Mustang Gt. I have the 3650 tranny. I have used a Hurst shifter back in my old '89Gt and I loved it! Opinions please!

MGW...i believe the orange handle ones are very good.

I have a pro 5.0 but next time will go with a mgw feels crisper.

I have B&M PRO Ripper and I love that think, tight solid shifts short trow, almost impassible to miss a shift, but that is just me ,different people like different thinks.
Good luck whit your choice.

MGW, Pro 5.0, Steeda Tri-ax. Those are generally considered the best of the bunch. And everyone who has one will say that the one they have is the "best".
Like this: I have a MGW -- I think it's great.

Whichever one you get, you will like it -- anything's better than the stocker.

I have a UPR Blu-Thunder shifter right now - which was great for the first 10k miles (felt EXACTLY like a tri-ax) but since then it's worn out and feels like a slightly better stock shifter. My buddy has a pro5.0 and I liked his shifter, but the shifts are really notchy, though they are short. I actually just picked up an MGW from a member here on the boards, so I'll see how much I like that one in a few days

There are a few questions you really shouldn't ask on this forum or you are going to start a huge debate based on opinions rather than facts. The top five in my "Opinion" are:

1. What gears should I use 3:73's or 4:10's
2. What is the best shifter for my car?
3. H pipe or X pipe?
4. What is the best supercharger?
5. I have such and such mods and he has such and such mods, who will win?

And now my opinion on the choices for shifters. I have driven Mustangs with the T45 equipped with the Triax (mine) and the MGW (friends). I would have to say the Triax is a little stiffer with its shifts, but that’s the way I like it. What really separates the two shifters is the adjustability of the MGW. You can set it up in many different variations to find the best position for you. For this reason I find the MGW a nicer shifter. I bought the Triax long before the MGW was out but if I were to purchase a new shifter I would choose the MGW hands down, no questions asked. The bottom line is that no matter what shifter you buy (Triax, 5.0, MGW) its going to be better than the stock piece of crap that comes on the car.

great stuff right there.

Now having said that. For me the MGW is the "best" for the adjutablity. I'm fairly tall but arms are a lil shorter so where I like to sit puts me too far back for a shifter in the center. The MGW allowed me to rotate it over so where my hand falls is where the shifter is.
I've drove with all the major brands and they are all better than the stocker. Keep in mind though most have a lil "break in" time.

I would say MGW. I wouldn't even think about buying a differnt shifter for what ever reason if anything would happen to this one. The shifts are so smooth and effort less and the adjustablity on it is awsome.

I haven't used anything but the stocker and the MGW, but I can tell you that I have the MGW orange handle and am 100% satisfied with it. Huge improvement over the stock shifter.

Looks like MGW it is! Anyone have any problems with reinstallation (shift boots) or anything?

That's really pricey if by inner shift boot you mean the dust cover! You could just go buy some rubber from home depot/hardware store type place and make one for like $2.00

I have the Hurst in my 2003 and I absolutely love it. It was so dramatically better that the stocker I was wondering why it wasn't the first thing did to the car. If you had a Hurst before and liked it on your other Mustang you won't be disappointed with the newer one.

I had a Hurst Competition Plus on my '93 GT. It was a good shifter, but when I got my Mach and put on the MGW Blue Handle, it was a step above the rest of the shifters out there. I've tested the Tri-Ax and the new Hurst, and the MGW is still head and shoulders above those.

No problems at all with installation. It was one of the first installs I ever did on any car (I've still only done a few), and thought it was easy.

MGW also sells a boot for $8.00 that is explained on their site.
