The mufflers aren't as much the sound as the H-pipe is. You will get nothing from aftermarket mufflers until you change to an O/R H-pipe. If I did my exhaust all over again, I would try MACs. I've done quite a few MAC jobs and they sound great. Right now, I have Magnaflows and they are sweet sounding, I just wish they were a little louder. If your going to get a pair of shorty headers, save your eardrums and DO NOT GET FLOWMASTERS.

with an x-pipe, bassani or borla will sound awesome.
i think slp is a straight through muffler too, so it should be great with the x also, but i haven't heard it enough to give you my opinion on it

i'd also stay away from mac with an x-pipe.

sooo if i was you, i'd find some bassani mufflers and weld 'em up. i love that sound.

I ran dumps (flowmaster) for about a year and hated it. If your sixteen and really need the noise then go for it but I really hated the drone and really loud rumble not to mention the fumes at stop lights. I now run Macs 3" and love it.

I dont know about BEST.. but my Flowmasters with Magnaflow X make my car sound really low and grumbly, almost like a Corvette. It is not that higher raspy pitch. Does that make sense

I second that one. Magnaflow's sound SOOOOO NICE!!!! My brother just put magnaflow cat back on his 03GT, and all I can do is

I will be installing my magnaflow cat-back and magnaflow o/r x-pipe sometime in january. I will post as soon as I get them on!

As far as mufflers go, #1 magnaflow, #2 borla, #3 basanni.

I put basanni in third only because I haven't "personally" heard any 5.0's w/ basanni, but the sound clips I have heard do sound very nice.

I have Magnaflows as well... I really like them. They are a little too quiet on idle though. Maybe if (or when) I dump my cats they would wake up a bit?

I run MAC 1-5/8" equal-length shorties, a Bassani catted X pipe, and MAC FlowPath catback. IMO, it sounds much better than it did with an off road H pipe...Quieter, but deeper. Still screams at WOT though.
