I was going to get Nitto drag radials out back, but they only last about 10-15,000 miles. Since I do a lot of highway driving I thought street tires would be a little better for me. Unfortunatly, Im having trouble finding some in 315/35r17 size. Nitto street tires only go up to 285's. Right now I have BFG Comp t/a's and Im looking for some more traction. I'll probably be at the drag strip a lot this summer, but I can get DR's for my stock waffles if I need to. I would also like to get into autocross a lttle, so I need a good handling tire.

Right now Im leaning towards the Goodyear Eagle F1's http://www.discounttiredirect.com/d...oductType=TIRE&index=2&productCodeIndex=31379 ,but Im open to suggestions.

You are basically asking too much from one tire. A tire that wears good is not going to offer any traction on any track because they use a harder compound for better traction. Then there is the autocross vs drag strip traction. That is two different types of traction and you are not going to get what I consider good traction with a drag tire on a auto cross track. Get a good tire that will handle what you need it to for everyday driving and autocross and then look around for a set of cheap 15in wheels from a ranger or explorer and pick up a set of slicks for the drag strip if you are serious about traction at the drag strip. I am not much on autocross or serious corner turning so I use tires that wear real good on the street. I am rather hardcore about drag racing so to me traction is a set of slicks and launching at 5K.

I have 2 stock 16" wheels I can use for drag radials. I was wanting a good all-around tire, but I think your right, Im just asking too much from one tire...Im not looking to get into any hardcore racing, just some fun every now and then. So what would be a good tire for handling? I'll stick mostly to curvy back-roads, but I would like to try my car at the track sometime.

Does anybody know anyting about the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's? What other tires should I look at in 315/35?

I know firestone firehawks hook increadibly well at the drag stip. I've seen better 60's out of those tires than any else. My buddy has a kenne bell SC'd 94 GT with 315-35-17 goodyear's out back and on his first and only trip ever to the track with the car he put down a few 1.91-1.92 60's on them. I ran a set of Nangkang street tires (245-50-16 ~$80/piece) all last year because my nitto's wore out and I knew I was getting new wheels and tires this year. I ran it only once at the track and they hooked good out of the hole, I had a 1.91 60' on them. However, on the 1-2 shift I would light them up like I was on ice... it was the weirdest thing. On the street I could go full throttle in 1st most of the time without spinning them.
