StangLou said:Yeah I think Rob has more than pulley problems lol. Ive had ASP pulleys on my old car. Granted I did have to take off the alt pulley because it dimmed the crap out of my lights and my 5.0 was bad enough to drive at night lol. Now on my '03, the Steeda pulleys are. I have had 0 problems with them. IMO the only way pulleys can ruin anything is if they are installed wrong. You dont seal the notch in the crank pulley, your going to leak oil and ruin your engine. You dont torque it down right, you could be setting yourself up for a leak as well. As for the other 2 pulleys, I have been told by a few speed shops around here that as long as you use the proper belt for your combo, you will be . I have 0 charging problems on my '03 and noticed a sotp difference right after install. They might not be for Rob, but they are definately for me . Also if your that scared of something going wrong, why are you modding your car anyways? You do anything performance wise to your car you risk messing something up, grow a set and start modding !!!
robg860 said:Get ready to kill your alternator, slow down all of your accessories, and gain no power or drivability. My alternator died twice from steeda pullies! The shop that does ONLY alternators said they see countless premature failures from pullies!
robg860 said:Thats why they are a potential hazzard as well.:
StangLou said:Rob lol you have got to be kidding me!!! LMFAO!!! What do you mean if this bothers me so much??? Of course it bothers me when you have schmucks running their mouth about product that DO WORK!!! You said it yourself its when you have people that done know what they are doing that mess up the install. I dont know what you are arguing with me aboutbut get off your freaking high horse. Your the uneducated one if you agree with what I said and then say how so many shops have said pulleys will ruin your car. Its people who dont have a clue about what they are doing that ruin their cars, not the pulleys.
You want to talk about reserach, lets talk about research. Steeda has done research on their pulleys to show there is not a significant loss in charge on their alt pulley or water pump pulley. If you hold up the Steeda alt pulley against the factory alt pulley, the size is almost identical. As for what you called research, you did not call the factory of the company you are bashing to ask about their product. You went to shops and talked to people who have probably worked on peoples cars that didnt have a clue what they were doing. Of course they are going to say stay away from pulleys... if you cant install them correctly.
As for you saying you would but your set up against mine??? Ummm yeah you have a chance in hell. All you would see is me past you. Ill even cut my lights on so you can see if they dim or not . As I said before if your so freaking scared of modding your car dont do it.
Hotstang, enjoy your Steeda pulleys man, if they are installed correctly you should have no problems
Your pretty gullable.robg860 said:call a few shops that dont sell pullies, and profit from them. You then will get the CORRECT answers. Try an alternator specialist on the web if you want. They cringe when you mention PULLIES. CAll the guy at mralternator.com and he will be truthful. When I bought my second alternator, the tech. said to take off the Steedas ASAP. I trust them over power hungry modders that define the placebo effect studies! Show me a bonified source that endorses reliability from pullies other than a speed shop....

Im sure you are Highschool educated at best from reading your stupid unarticulated crap. Keep telling yourself that youre doing the right thing. I think you have lost your reputation by arguing your frugile useless claims! I love telling underlings like you what to do everyday!!!
