Best way to attach fan shroud on oversized radiator?

While my 1993 GT was in the shop for a few repairs, I had them go ahead and remove the original radiator and install my new FRPP radiator to save me some time. I knew in advance that the FRPP rad was a little bigger, but it is often installed in Fox cars with just a little tweaking on the radiator support brackets. However... They used zip ties to secure the top of the fan shroud!!! I was pretty P.O.'ed because the shop that did the work has always done quality work on my vehicles over the past 20+ yrs. A few months...days?...of Texas heat plus underhood temp and those cheap zip ties will be all but gone! I just know it.

What is the correct and more secure way to attach the upper fan shroud for a FRPP radiator? I can rig up something secure, but I want it done right...or not at all. What do you guys do?


My buddy told me he always ran his w/o the fan shroud and never had a problem. I don't want to do that. The car is a daily driver and it gets over 100+ degrees in Texas and I bought the larger radiator to help prevent the possibility of overheating issues in the first place.


(I am kicking myself for not spending the extra $100 on the direct fit Fluidyne!)

I've seen mounts for electic fans that you push a little rod through the rad, and then a clip goes on it, and hold the fan shroud tight to the rad. Maybe you can find a couple of those on Summit.

I have never physically seen the FRPP radiator but I had a griffin in my 93 and it had enough of an aluminum lip at the top of the radiator that I was able to secure the shroud with 2 stainless steel screws.

Are you running an E-fan or are trying to secure the stock mechanical fan shroud?
