BF Goodwrench G Force vs Yokohama Avid T4

The BF Goodwrenches are $82 a tire and the Yokohama's are $81 a tire. The BF's have a Uniform Tire Quality Grade of 340 AA A and the Yokohama's have a 420 A B, So the treadwear on the Yoko's are better but traction and temp ratings of the BF's are better. The BF also has a just a tad bigger foot on the ground and a higher load rating.

Both have great reviews on dry traction and both have subpar rating in wet weather.

I wouldn't ever consider running a Japanese tire on my American muscle car.

Because it is an American car and I refuse to use imported crap on it if there is any way to avoid it. Sometimes it is unavoidable, but if I have any choice in the matter, I will always buy a product made by an American company. That's why all my Mustangs roll on Goodyears.

BFG is owned by Michelin, but at least the tires are still made here.

Well do you think you could put aside your pro American perspective for a minute and enlighten me on the potential performance of each tire on the specs I presented or do you need more info on the tires. I can rename the thread tire a vs tire b if it will help.

Right now just driving it but come spring I will be doing a few 1/4 mile passes a week as I add parts, test and tune and so forth.

The UTQG is a subjective number that is not regulated in any way. Every manufacturer assigns that number internally and essentially is merely a marketing tool. The Avid is an OEM tire on Saab passenger cars and is a budget replacement tire suitable for most light import applications. The BFG is a mid-priced "performance" tire with mediocre traction on wet pavement.

Neither tire does anything really well, but either one will hold air and rotate. If you want more opinions, visit Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels and read the reviews for each tire.

Tirerack is where I have been researching them. I like the tread pattern of the BFG but did not and dont want to lock myself down to any certain tire. I'd like to stay in the $75 to $85 range per tire. I want dry pavement traction on moderate launches but want it to be able to make a 2500 mile trip because in January I will in fact be making a 2500 mile trip so I need something that will atleast go down the road in wet weather decent and maybe a patch of light snow here and there. The dry traction is what is important to me the most though.

I had the g-force and didnt like them i thought the sidewall was to soft for my tastes, and they didnt grip much better than the cooper cobras i had on to begin with.

You going to have trouble finding any tire to give decent traction on launch for under $150 a piece. Any tire that will even be close to safe on the back of a Mustang in wet weather will have awful dry traction. You may be able to get some chains and drive it in the snow a little.

I had T4's for a little while........I mean they only lasted a little while - two months! I cooked 'em!!!!!
