I was looking for a good all around tire for my stock 04 Mach 1 although I'm not too concerned with a good snow tire as I won't be driving this car in the winter. Treadwear and hookup are my main concerns when purchasing new tires. A buddy of mine has the Yokohama Avid H4S 255/40/17. The treadpattern looks great and they seem to be holding up well and giving him some good traction. What do you guys think I should go with? I don't think I want to go any bigger than 255's as I heard running 275's might cause some problems on stock rims (correct me if I'm wrong). The Yokohama's have a 500 AA A rating which I think is pretty good. I don't want to break the bank with this purchase but just get the best bang for the buck if you will. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for the replies.

I've been running 275x40 on the back of my 2000 since the first tire change after I bought it brand new and haven't had any problems.

The last two sets I've put on have been Fuzion ZRi and I couldn't be happier with the treadwear or hookup.

I thought mach1s came stock with 275s? I belive they have a 9 inch wide rim....correct me if im wrong.

Nitto Drs if you want traction and some life
BFG KDws are a good all around street tire but they are PRICEY
GSD3? Goodyears are very nice as well, but again PRICEY.

No.... Ford skimped on us Mach 1 owners by only giving us a 17X8 wheel.... :nonono:

I think all V8 mustangs should come standard with @ least a 17X9 from the factory....

As far as tires go, Ive been running BFG KDW2's for the last 2 years & I couldnt be happier...They have excellent grip on the street & when cornering too...Good in the rain too...Ive gotten 18,000+ miles outta mine & its just getting to the point to where my rears need 2 be replaced...The only bad thing I can say about them is they get a little noisy after they start 2 wear, but there worth it....Also they suck @ the track, but all street tires do....
