Big Problem with GT40 Intake,Tall Valve Covers PCV

ok I ran into this today. GT40 intake with Moroso Tall valve covers. I have a spacer under the manifold already. The manifold will clear the valve covers, however there is no chance of running the pcv line to either one of the ports under the GT40 manifold. Nothing but a tapered plug will fit into the 2 ports under the manifold. Obvisouly I can plug the two ports, but dont I need the pcv? What should I do? Bigger spacer? Even then then still might not clear. Can I reroute the pcv valve elsewhere?

I just checked I have the 1/2 spacer. I know they make an 1 inch spacer but I am really not sure that is going to do it. It is in an unmeasurable spot. Could I run 2 spacers? I have a cowl hood so clearance should not be an issue. Any suggestions?

i fail to see how the pcv wont fit. it plugs into the lower intake. how will spacers for the upper intake change things?

The pcv fits in the back of the manifold. Its where the lines go into the bottom of the upper intake. There is a T fitting that will not fit into this application. The lines come from the pcv into this T fitting and then into the upper intake

there should only be 1 pcv "line" if youre using the stock setup, and it goes from the valve directly to manifold vacuum, with no tees. this is of course voided if youre using multiple pcv's, and my post is irrelevant, as i dont know the proper routing for that.

as for the cover holes, one will at least be your oil fill (duh), and ive seen breathers and i think other pcv's in the other or both, or you can just plug them.

I had a simular issue. I have the tall FMS AL valve covers and a Explorer intake. I also have a 1/2" spacer. Everything is now fitting. I have the PCV, and everything else installed. Here is what I did.

1.) I am not using valve cover gaskets. I have black permatex lightly smeared where the gasket would be. Since I have cast AL valve covers they remain nice and flat.

2.) I threaded the "T" as far in as it would go, then using a carbide bit, trimmed the edge that was contacting the VC as far as it would go before it would cut into the tubes. (i had an extra that i destroyed to find out how far I could go)

3.) I used the carbide bit to clearance the VC where the "T" was contacting the cover. I now have about 1/16th" clearance there.

If you have the tubular GT40 manifold then I am not sure if step 2 will work for you.

it is the tubualr GT40 intake. I amy have to try and grind the "T" Here is a pic on the T that runs under the intake manifold to the PCV. Sorry for the quality its a phone pic. I would say I have less than 1/4 inch between the valve cover and the intake. Can I plug this T and reroute the PCV or install a breather? Again I have the 1/2 spacer but I am not sure that another 1/2 will clear it. Has anybody heard of running 2 spacers? An 1 inch and a 1/2 together?

couldnt you run a single tube fitting from under the intake to another location where there is more room and use a vacuum tree to plumb all the under intake items you need? With a little planning you could put it somewhere where it would never be seen. Just a thought. Sounds easier than trying to clearance t's and vc's and what not..

If you do decide to run 2 spacers I would epoxy them together to make 1 spacer. I have run multiple intake gaskets to achieve the amount of lift I needed to clear vc's before so I wouldnt think that running another spacer or just getting a 1" spacer would be that much of a stretch.

This is why my brand new tall valve covers are sitting in the garage and the shorter replacements I bought are on the car. Too many issues. Use short valve covers and take out the baffle.
