Does anyone know how exactly they work? It seems to me that the rear end would be able to rotate too far and the pinion angle would constantly change. Is there some extra link or force that i am not considering that holds the rear end in place?

Thanks

My understanding is that it allows to have a lot of roll steer w/o changing the pinion angle. The 4 link brackets on the rear end are mounted with bearings allowing them to rotate on the housing. A torque arm controls pinion angle.
