They are junk, I have one, as a matter of fact, I can hear it running right now. If you live anywhere where it gets hot, it will not be enough. I alao have a nice aluminum rad. The temp creeps up at stoplights on a hot day.
The new Black Magic Extreme does pretty well I hear.

Umm, celcius? Cause at 30 degrees F, I don't think you'd even need a fan.

They don't call them black tragic for nothing....

Seriously, some guys run them and have good results. But that fan (pictured) doesn't even begin to cover half of the radiator surface, and the more coverage the better the fan is at pulling heat off of the cooling fins. If I were to spend that much money, I would invest $100.00 in a DCC FK35 and a Mark VIII fan and then call it a day.

I've had several friends with bad experiences with Black Magics.

If your interested, I sell used but tested Mark VIII fans for $85 shipped, or a Mark VII fan that is a direct bolt on for a stock radiator for $155 shipped.

i must be one of the lucky ones. i have been running a black magic #175 for several months without a single problem. once i tweaked the control to the right setting i forgot about it. the temps have stayed in the 90's here most of the summer, sometimes above 95 and it has worked like a charm. i even spray it with laughing gas every now and then with no problems. i run an aluminum rad and an oil cooler as extra insurance. i also noticed after ditching the clutch fan and installing the electric fan that the engine revs a bit quicker and smoother.

I have the black magic XTREME #185, this fan pulles 3500 CFM and it keeps my car right at 180. I can idle in traffic for 20 mins in 33 degree celcius heat with 100% humidity and my guage doesnt go over 180. BTW I also have underdrive pulleys the stock radiator and I havent changed my rad fluid since ive owned the car (5 years).

The regular black magic is poo, I agree but check out the xtreme #185 version. Its 200x's better then the original fan. It covers the whole radiator as well, and it looks nice and clean under the hood. Ill post some pics of mine later if you want.

www.dccontrol.com => is where to contact Brian Baskin about a controller. By far, this is the best way to control any electric fan that is not wired into a factory computer.

www.ebay.com (key word Mark VIII fan) and you get this: http://search.ebay.com/Mark-Viii-Fan_W0QQfkrZ1QQfromZR8

If you are patient, you can wait until a better deal shows up on ebay for the fan. I got mine for $25 + shipping because one of the mounting feet was damaged. But those are cut off anway (with a circular saw if you have to) so it doesn't mattter. Just make sure you get a section of the factory harness to wire everything up with.

I picked up a new taurus replacement fan 94/95 3.0 liter model from auto supply store...cheaper than the 3.8 liter fan with the same motor...paid 60 canadian with the shroud. For mounting purposes it covers almost the entire rad so once you have it you will easily figure out a method..took me 10 minutes.
