Anyone have problems with the black ext paint? I wanted black but EVERYONE tells me its not worth it. Every scratch, scrape, piece of dust (not literally) is shown. Dirty dirty car. Any comments? I'm still trying to decide what color and I really like black (just not the dirty/scratch part).

Yea, it's hard to keep clean but well worth it!
I keep mine garaged but dust still accumulates overnight.
My car's best friends are a California Duster, a bottle of Meguire's Quick Detailer spray and some microfiber towels.
I do have some minor scratches but no one ever notices them but me.

This is my first black car and I love it. When it is clean, it is the most reflective color I think. If your the type of person that keeps up their car, then you shouldn't have a problem. It can become very dusty over night. Get some good car care products, I use Zaino and have been very satisfied with it.

I had a 1994 Mustang GT, black. Beautiful when clean but to keep it that way you will be working on it all the time. I was at a car show once. I used a soft rag to remove the dust. When I got back to where I started it was covered with dust again. Never-ending battle. My 2005 is Windveil blue. It can be dusty and still look clean. I also get MANY compliments on the color, more than I ever did on the black.

Mine's black and I'm happy with it. I originally ordered mineral grey, but kept getting the run-around from the dealer until I found the black one at another dealership and bought it. It does take more work to keep it clean looking but man it looks sharp. I don't even have a garage yet - my pony has to sit outside 24/7, but as with Gameon and ak_sn8k01, I use the CA Duster and Meguirs quick detail spray when I need to give it a (relatively) quick shine. I'd say a lot of it depends on how much you enjoy or hate cleaning your car. If you're like a lot of people and only keep it shiny while it's brand new, you might want to choose a different color.

you know what they say...

"once you go black, you never go back...."

black is a great color if you dont mind spending more time with it. i have nothing better to do than work on my car, so it doesnt bother me one bit. and it looks sooooo sexy when its all shined up......

My Cobra is black. I love black cars. But no matter how well you care for the paint it's going to have rock chips and scratches. That is if you actually drive it. My Cobra isn’t a daily driver but it has about 24k on it. I wash it by hand and dry it with a low powered leaf blower. I have rock chips and a few scratches.

I’m not sure what color the primer is on an 05. The primer on a 2003 Cobra is white. This makes every rock chip stand out. If you’re anal about your car maybe a different color is in order.

I found out the hard way that the 05 primer is white...very tiny chip on my hood, small white dot about the size of a pin head beneath. It's unnoticeable unless you are a foot or two away from it, but still...

Mine is black. I will paint it orange when scratches, smudges, swirls, bird droppings and water spots get to be too much (probably a few years). No regrets though because black is what they had on the lot when I was ready to buy my car!

Really joyful driving around a triple black vert during the hottest July in Sacramento history..

the only good black car isn'-t a daily driver. silver, white, red, and yellow hide the scratches best. my old car is black and the roof on my 240 is black... EVERYTHING shows.

I agree w/ Makoto-black is awesome, but not so practical as a daily driver unless you own a detailing business. I have redfire, but wish I had tungsten gray. In my experience that color looks great and looks cleaner longer than any other color.

Yeah agree & gotafew chips & scratches, but I'm really not too anal about it like a good friend of mine is. I heard about using a leaf blower but I've been too nervous (for some reason ) to use it. I'm going to now

I completely detailed mine a couple weeks ago & it's been sitting in the garage...but accumulated quite a bit of dust so I took her out this weekend for a de-dusting ... and exercise. Hell, last month I took her to work and it sat in the (freaking hot) parking lot (with car cover) and the easy-tag melted off the inside windshield!

So I've been back to using my dd.....my H-D Sporty (bar hopper)

Yep, my Sonic Blue 05 has that same pinprick on the hood, and it's white. You can barely see it, but I know it's there.

I use one all the time. Also using Mr. Clean AutoDry. The Leaf Blower is great at getting all the water out of the grill, headlight covers and rims Back to topic - I love black too but way to much work for me. It's fine the first year or two, but after that, all the little dings etc really start to pile up and show. If you plan on painting in 4 or 5 years - go for it. If not, you may want to consider another color. I got Torch Red this time and love it. I can drive it for a week, even in the rain when roads are yucky, and she still looks squeeky clean. Good luck with your choice

I've had two black Ford cars over the years, and brid crap ate right through the paint down to the primer on both of them. I've never had a problem with any other color. Ford will only fix paint in the first 12 months, and then it is like pulling teeth to get it done under warntee.

For what it is worth . . .

You have no idea how jealous I am of you. It's either V6 or nothing for me.
