a few of the bolts for my PS and alt. broke off inside my old heads :( so now i need new bolts.

someone told me to just buy threaded rod, cut it to fit and slap a nut+washer on the end of it. Is this gonna work? would the rod back itself out of the hole by any chance? or would loctite stop that??

ALSO, i've got FMS p-headers i'm trying to get on and man...its turning into a real pain...the passenger side is fine but on the drivers side one of the studs to the X-pipe is IMPOSSIBLE to get a socket on the nut. there's just no room for a deepwell socket to go over the stud and tighten the nut! i've heard of problems with LT headers and bad motor mounts, could this be similar? or am i missing something? anyone else have this problem? (probably not, but worth a shot)

thanks, thats all for now until i get it running :D

drill out or use extractor to remove broken bolts. As far as the headers, id replace the motor mounts while your there. It makes it easier while the headers are removed, if you feel like removing the one. Cut off the extra stud length if it helps.

weld a 3/8 or 5/16 nut on the broken bolt. Hold the nut on the head with a pair of pliers and fill the center hole of the nut with weld....let it cool on it own and then turn it out. Works every time for me

the bolts snapped off inside my e7's...so to be honest, they can stay there i dont care. but that is a very good idea roland...i'll remember that next time.

But, i need to mount my alternator and PS pump to my P heads. I'm not sure what size/length bolts i need and cant seem to find the old bolt (what a suprise, every other damn bolt is in a labeled bag on the workbench except these). The power steering pump in on the driver side head, the alt is on the pass. head. i dont know if this is normal, but i have a trick flow AC delete and it kinda f'ed with the accessory setup

I suppose i could measure and just go to home depot huh?

thanks for the header help aryan15, i think this is the 3rd thread you've managed to hep me out in :nice:
