So it's the middle of the summer and my 2001 mustang gt won't blow anything but hot air. I did some research and decide to take off the dash looking for my "blend door"

I found this, completely unattached

i found where it goes....

does anyone know how it is supposed to be attached? it doesn't seem to screw on...

thanks!

that was the only thing i could think of...but whatever held it on is broken now.

i just used some ghetto ingenuity, found a small hose clamp and tightened it around one of those black plastic posts (not to tight - i wouldn't want to damage the plastic)

I think it is a little door deep inside the bowels of your air vent system that allows you to select warm/cool air.

that blend door actuator looks broken are all the tabs that turn the blend door shaft ok.. also you should turn the blend door shaft by hand and see if it moves and changes air temp as you do it. You could also have a binding blend door.
