Blew a gasket, got a question, YEA!!

Ok so it wasn't such a crucial gasket, in fact, it was just a header gasket, as follows:

-BBK E/L (I know, I know)
-Passenger side
-No lost bolts
-Gasket blew after about a year, strange.

Either way, I don't know what gasket to get.

And I didn't want to call BBK because of course they would say that ONLY their gasket will work, when others might work as well.

I'm lookin for cheap, I'm UNBELIEVABLY broke, with other bullshiit.

The dealership is on my street so if a ford gasket would work, that would be tits!

What gasket were you running? I'd advise to not get the same one, lol.


I'm running a Fel Pro set with my BBK's (U/L). Never had a problem with Fel Pro's.

Just looked on Summit & they're $16.88 per set. Part # FPP-1415.

EDIT: Also, these will be easy to install WITHOUT removing the headers. Just take all the bolts out except the ones on the end. Loosen them. Slap gasket in.

You have to make sure you retighten your header bolts after a few heat cycles. Since my car is far from a daily driver, header bolts are one of those things that I always check when I'm detailing the engine bay.

I used the stage 8 bolts (3 pieces per bolt) and I havn't touched the bolts since the install. If you use locking bolts, you probably won't have to worry about them backing out on you. They can only back out maybe 1/16 of a turn. If you torque them good to start with, you shouldn't have to worry.

That is kinda strange. I have the same headers, and I used the gasket that came with them. It has been almost a year since I put them on, and I had my passenger side gasket blow out just yesterday.
I replaced it with the Fel Pro ones today. Hopefully they will work better than the ones that BBK sent with the kit.

Have you had any burning problems? I think it is the fuel line that runs right along the engine bay wall. Just the edge of the outmost header seems to touch it, it has burned through the foam sleeve, but not the metal of course.

I was thinking of switching out to unequal lenght shorties just to avoid the head ache, but I REALLY can't afford that, but then again, I don't want to deal with having to fix a damn fuel line.

Actually I think that is one of the lines for the AC. At least that is the one with the foam sleve that was char broiled on my car. I didn't have my AC hooked up for the last year, and today when I was working on it I just pulled the line completely out. I don't know if it would affect the AC having that tube be hot like that.

I am hoping to get a new engine in about a year, so I am definately going to ditch the E/L headers then.

I'd check to make sure! If it is a fuel line .... you may have a SERIOUS problem.
