Got the block back from the machine shop. So I painted some parts, valve cover, intake, block, timing cover, air filter assembly, oil pan, block & heads. Painted Ford engine Corporte blue. Gonna let it cure for a day or 2 then start putting the engine back together & install in the freshly painted engine compartment. Also painted the cast iron exhaust manifold with POR 15 hi heat (1400 degrees) a cast iron gray after sand blasted. Lots of work, but gonna look good when done someday, I hope.
All this is on a Indian fire 69 Mach I 351 with FMX (picking up from tanny shop tomorrow from rebuild). A few pics of the parts:

Thats a lot of blue. In my personal opinion, the greyish exhaust manifolds with the blue block and surrounding components might look weird, since there fairly close in color. That cikir bkue looks good though

It will look great. I've seen a lot of engines painted after assembly (yuck). The prep-work you did will pay off, especially with the fresh gaskets showing between the painted parts. The gray exhaust manifolds will look perfect. Also, nice job masking the block. It looks like mine did!

One note... you might want to remove the paint from the oil filter mounting surface.

That looks great. To break up the blue on mine I painted the intake with a "cast iron" color paint. I think the exhaust manifolds will look okay in that color.

Thanks for the complements guys.
It's hard work getting all the parts blasted, taped & painted to look good. Prep work is the key to getting a good looking finish.
66P51GT good eye, thanks, but the pic does not show that the oil filter mounting plate was taped off, the machine area below the mounting surface is painted.
I'm painting everything to go back to stock looking, the reason for so much blue & the cast iron manifold. I'm restoring the Mach for a friend who is the 2nd owner & has owned this car since '72.

Looks good. I was going to do my new motor blue but figured it wouldn't look good in my red/black fox body. So I did the motor black.... I figure it will match the car better....

That looks pretty good.

I did the extreme opposite and either clear coated the metal or painted it iron/aluminum/steel/black. The only thing Ford Blue is my block.
