BLOCK QUESTION?

I have a 302 roller block in my garage thats in really good shape that i want to put in my car. My question is are there any numbers casted on the block or on the pistons or anywhere on the shortblock so i can tell what car it came out of. The reason i want to find out is because i don't want to be useing a shortblock from a lincoln because i heard they are different. Is that correct?

Yeah the difference would be the H.O. vs. the non H.O. You definitely want the H.O. I'm not sure how to tell. Is it just a bare block or a complete engine. I would think there would have to be a casting number somewher on the block. Have you looked it over real good?

Its a complete short block.

ummmmm, not quite...Mustangs, trucks and passenger cars shared the same block, crank and rods...pistons were different until '93 when Ford went Hyper with all of them. (edit: in '91 the rods went back to a "dual rib" design in the trucks, and I don't think Mustangs got them until a little bit later.)

The block casting number will be on the passenger side of the block under where the starter would bolt on...if it's out of a '87-'93, it'll more than likely be an E7TE, or F1SE casting number.

If you can see the bottom side of the slugs they should say TRW inside, and E7ZE-something (can't remember the exact part number)

i thought that an HO would have a different crank and cam seeing as how the firing order is different. Not all pass. cars and trucks came will roller motors, even if they are FI.

nope...the crank is the same, the cam is different yes, but, the crank and rods are the same

Well i know the pistons are forged. They say trw on the bottom.
