does a chromeoly set of rings take a while to seat?
this my 3rd motor ive built,1st 2 motors no problems ,this is 1st time using moly rings,seems like i still have a good bit of blowby,how many miles should it take to break in? i was told it takes a bit longer
yeah they take longer. also ive heard that you can run synthetic in a brand new motor with moyl rings unlike one with standard rings becaues the moly rings dont gouge the wall like the other ones do....i could be wrong though. we had a guy put a brand new motor in his suburban and it had moly rings and he would come back every other week for a quart of oil for the entire summer because it was using so much oil. dont know exactly how long it take though, sorry
