I've made some real headway over the past two months. The engine bay has been completely stripped and repainted, the front suspension is mostly complete, and the interior is pulled apart.

Currently the engine is more or less together minus the blower and manifold. I'm still waiting on the intercooler so it will be a while before I am able to finish the engine.

The biggest problem right now is making this puppy actually fit in the bay. The mounts on my K-member don't quite seem to be in a good position so the headers will contact either the firewall or the K-member itself depending on which slot the engine is mounted in. So my next order of business is to cut off the mounts and create my own.

Here's some pics for your enjoyment!

The ugly nasty engine bay as it sat this past fall.

Stripped and primed.

Painted all pretty.

Mock-up without the headers to check spacing.

Same thing.

Fitting the front motor plate.

Yes.

Unfortunately I built myself out of just about every class but Open Comp and Wild Street. Sooo.... I'll race in those two and then just get my jollies around town whenever I decide I can afford another ticket.

Lol, I know so many people in that same situation.. Street racing is prominent down south for that reason... Not that i endorse, or condone it... Its its way to hard to build a fast car that fits into a class...

you going to have the blower sticking out of the hood or are you going with a large cowl induction hood?

It'll be sticking its head out for the whole world to see. I'm sure the cops will view it as a bull views a waving red flag.

Which is precisely why I got a TKO 600! I'm hoping it'll be a bit more forgiving of me.

I ordered a custom built manifold from Don Hampton which will run you a cool $1,000 for the non-polished version. It's basically an aftermarket manifold with the intake cut in half and a blower mount welded on. Pretty detailed stuff.

FYI, trying to stick a 10-71 on anything less than a big-block will be HIGHLY expensive and nearly impossible physically. Sounds like a crazy combo though. Good luck on it!
