Hello everyone. I am a 2012 black/saddle 5.0 mustang owner. I purchased the car in June of this past year and have accumulated roughly 10,700 miles on it. As i was driving one night with me and my brother, i began to hear a knock coming from the engine. Knowing that my car was still under warranty and that this was likely a serious issue, i pulled my car into a friends nearby driveway (half a mile away) and parked it for the night.
The next day my brother got the car towed to the dealership, where they informed me the car was 3 quarts low on oil! I was unable to attend the dealership as i fell very sick at night. The car had received an oil change at 5,000 miles under the service plan, and i had already returned to a different dealership to receive my second one. At roughly 10,000 miles, they told me that my service plan did not cover another oil change until 15,000 miles, and that my car did not require one at the time. As an enthusiast i planned on changing the oil on my own very soon, but sadly this engine malfunction got in the way first.
The dealership which i brought the car to is Scarsdale Ford, and thusfar they have been very helpful. They told me that the malfunction came from cylinder 7, and the car is very close to throwing a rod. Just yesterday (after having the car for almost 2 weeks) they told me that Ford OK'd the full replacement of the motor under warranty (thank god) and will NOT be just fixing it (a relief for me). The dealer is being very lenient with a loaner car, as my warranty only covers it for 10 days. Overall i am satisfied thus far, but the installation of the engine has yet to occur. They said they expect 1 week to receive the motor, then 2 days for install, so i will keep everyone updated. Just figured i'd put my story out there and hear if there was anyone else with issues? Only mod was a Roush axle-back (no tune) that they said they did not care about. However, if i had a tune, my warranty would have been voided (or so the dealer claims).
