Blowzilla, Turbo or Centrifugal Supercharger?

I start college this fall, I would like to start a small project during my 4-5 years there to keep my mind off all the b.s. I was thinking of tearing down the stang compleltey and putting in some good stuff. Full suspension, Tremec 3550 or maybe even a T56. Keep interior and exterior close to stock. Then I would like to do a killer street engine.

My friend has me leaning towards a turbo, because he said for 4500 bucks you get injectors, mass air, fuel pump, pipes, msd ignition and tons of other things that you need to do a full install. Which after adding everything up would be close to the price of a supercharger. But I also like how the roots type supercharger looks and also the clean operation. I would like to build this from the oil pan up, because I really like building my own engines. So..... anybody have an opinion on this? Maybe even a twin turbo charged 408 or something... what do you guys think for a nice Viper killer?

Well, I am 100% satisified with my Vortech S-Trim. Been running it for years now and have never had even a hiccup. The thing has been flawless, the kit was complete all the way down to zip ties, and the instructions didn't leave me scratching my head too often.

With that being said, if I had the extra money at the time, I would have gone with a Turbo. I still plan to do a Turbo car (not likely on the Cobra, want to pick up a "project" car someday), so I think you'd be real happy with a Turbo! If I were you and the money wasn't an issue, I'd go Turbo.

I dont know how to really read a dyno graph. But that TQ curve looks pretty impressive on a stock 5.0.

I went with a supercharger because i got a good deal on it and i'm not looking to make ridiculous power. That being said, if i had my choice, i would have deffinetly gone turbo.

you bought my kit, it made rediculous power on my motor, why not yours?

If you are on a budget and are not looking for extreme HP then I say go with a Novi 1000. Best bang for your buck! It will easily push your stock block to its limits.

If you plan on going extreme ie. junking your stock block and building a new engine that can handle more then 500hp then I say Turbo. Check PTK www.proturbokits.com

Centrifugal supercharger for me, I love the way the Blowzilla sounds, but roots style blowers can only do so much and intercooling them is not easy. Turbos are awesome but a lot of work. The blower is easy to install, and can amke a lot of power too IMHO.

I don't mind the work, especially for the award.... I don't think it should be that hard.... but I really like that whine of a centrifugal blower

wow, their s**t is hot. I was gonna do a diy but thier "hot side" kit looks so damn hot. and it appears extremely efficient in it hose routing. besides that, if you get the kit it comes with SO MUCH STUFF!!!!!! I could actually save the money I was gonna do on supporting mods ahead of time and just dive into that

you have any idea how much power a twin turbo 408 would put down?! like a detune would be alike 600, and you could easily get 1000 if you have everything supported properly. check out www.turbomustangs.com
it will really open your eyes on how much work a turbo is, fuel system alone would be at least 1k if you want a potent engine. and don't forget your tuning and engine management systems. i'm not trying to discourage you but it is more work then a mild blower.

Fuel system requirements are not dictated by which form of forced induction your using. Your horsepower goal/expectations is the determining factor.

To tune things right on both a supercharger and turbocharger, a dynotune is the way to go.

In my eyes, the satisfaction of constructing 80+ % of my own turbo kit outweighs the cost (even though my kit will be wayyyy cheaper than even a bottom of the line supercharger kit ).
