Hi All, I just found some type of blue paint on my left front rim and splashed on the drivers door and below. I clay barred off some of it, and then used a mothers cleaner wax, it removed some of it, but only after much pressure. I only used it on the rim, as I don't want to scratch or damage the car itself. Any suggestions? I don't know if it won't come off easily because the temps are dropping here in maine, or it is just a freakin nightmare. My wife thinks I drove over some blue stripes on the roac, or handicap spots. I'm not sure. Has anyone removed this before?
Many thanks,
Doc

Depending on the type of paint it could be a total pain to remove. Your best bet is to wheel it off. Trying to do it by hand will take forever and you might damage the paint. And if youre not confident in doing this, call a body shop they might only charge you $80 -$100 to remove it depending on how much is on the car.

when you say "wheel it off" do you mean an orbital buffer? The car is an 06 gt, tungsten grey. When I tried to get it off the rims with cleaner wax, it was a real bear on the flat part of the rim, easier (but still stuck) on the "spokes". This might be my excuse to buy a buffer.

my dad's 01 Lincoln LS V8 was driving on the interstate and a pail of oil based paint fell off a work truck and landed on the ground in front of him. there's white paint splatter all over the front bumber and splashed up behind the tires on the quarter panel. i've tried everything short of sanding it off with no progress. i hope y'all have some ideas...

how well waxed is the car?

try some products that remove wax, it should take the product off with it.

i would prepsall it. its a product body shops use to wipe down parts before they are painted to make sure any contaminants or dirt or wax etc isn't still on the part.

or try some plastic razorblades with a hair dryer. you can probably get these at your local fish store for about 99 cents. i unfortunately work at a fish store haha. they are for acrylic tanks.

at the last step try some laquer thinner. make sure you don't let it sit on there and eat away the paint on the car.

even some wd40 on a rag should work.

just gotta make sure you take your time and go slow. when your working fast, small mistakes turn into big mistakes quicker. do a small area at a time and work at it.

you may get some swirls or scratches, all the products to get this off would be pretty abrasive. just polish them out with a good polish and call it a day.

man i need to get back into body work. haha.

Repaint the side and be done with it. How much deductible do you have on your insurance?

paint came off!

Hi guys, thanks for all your help. I took all the advice, and pretty much used all of it. A combo of clay bar, wax, finger nail and goop off did the trick. Sadly I found some scratches on the rocker panels, but such is life. The car is pampered, not spoiled. I still don't know what I drove over, I suspect it was paint from a handicapped spot, but at least the paint is off without my having to re-paint or have it detailed.
Many thanks all1
