This morning Seattle Times runs a few lines on this driver down in Oregon arrested for speeding and reckless driving. The state record is 159 mph back in 1993. Anyone care to beat the record ?

My mustang rattles and creeks bad enough at 90mph... at 146mph it would prob just fall apart.

It's the big sedan BMW's and Mercedes that pass you going 150 mph on the autobahn. Tha's what they're made for. Unfortunately, our roads and the American driving culture is not compatible with that speed.

He should have held it to the floor! Could have gotten the new record and received the same fine.

wow, I wouldn't expect such a mild car to be able to pull past 6000rpm in overdrive like that.

I wasn't that far in the RPMs, I got a FMS 160 speedo thinking I would never tap that out, I had 3.45 rear gears then too, and was about 5000 to 5500 5th. Fast enough I tryed to shift to 6th that I didn't have, so just threw it back in 5th and kept it to the floor. Speedo was diffenety past 160 when I looked down. When the LT1 told me later that his stock 150 speedo was tapped, and he was going to shift to 6th right before we had to brake, I knew mine wasn't lying to me then. I had about 10 cars on him too,.. he probley would of caught me cuz I was just about out of gear. I've never gone that fast sence then, scares the crap out of me on such a short strech. lol

I'm assuming you mean 3.55's, i've never even heard of 3.45's for an 8.8".

Even so, 5500rpm (176mph calculated) in OD on a car like that is surprising.

lol Nex time I'll tape it lol. it was a turbo coupe 7.5 rear. Looked up the axle code in the manual, said, limited slip 3.45. After I blew it up, I even took it apart and sure enough, was a 3.45, werid isan't it. And just for the record the 8.8 I got from another turbo coupe was also a 3.45. I never heard of it till then either.
