sometime in my Stang's past, the hood flew off...i mean TOTALLY off...this left extensive dents in the roof and in the cowl panel. here is my question...is the cowl panel removeable without extensive labor? i have a PERFECT one out of my '86 donor car, i just need to know how to get it out. or am i stuck having to repair the one in the '88?

thanks in advance
Josh

the cowl panel is welded to the body you would have to most likely remove your winsheild front sheetmetal and then drill out all the spot welds and weld the new one on. do you have pics of the damage? if its not to bad a good body shop can fix it with out having to take you car all the way apart.

If you pull the plastic cowl grille, can you get to the underside of the metal of the cowl panel? I haven't had a Fox in seven years, but I remember being able to fix mine somehow when it happened. I know I used a slide hammer for the majority of it, but I think I was able to push up on it from the backside, too.

yup best bet is to repair it, getting it out is ugly , i had the same thing and just repaired it just take the plastic cowl off and its easy to get to.

Looking at buying a car that this has happened to. roof took the majority of the damage above the windsheild. Is this a hard fix? Would it be easier with a stud welder? thanks
