Bolted on my GT-40 Heads Y303 Aluminum heads today & something that freaked me out was the gasket I got from ford had no cut outs for any of the water passages except two is this right, I called ford & they said I got the right gasket but I find this very troubling, is this right & the gaskets both went on differently, one side of the gasket had pertruding rings & the other did not, they both had front stamped on em telling me that they must face forward but the way they lined up was one side the pertruding ring faced the block & the other side the pertruding ring faced the head is this correct ?

What kind of block are you using? I had to have my Boss block drilled to allow coolant into the heads.

Thats due to money-saving efforts on the manufacturing end of things. They dont stamp a right and left gasket, just one that you flip over and use on both sides. I got a fairly universal Felpro gasket kit and I dont remember any blocked off holes unless they were at the back of the heads. I havent seen my head gaskets since January...

what would happen with putting on the gasket with the water holes on the front instead of the back?
