What the heck is the difference between the Borla Stinger
and the regular Borla catback?
Also-- will adding a x pipe to either of these
make the exhaust alot louder?
Is it a huge performance gain w/ an x pipe?

Thanks!

Stingers are much louder. They sound killer outside but can also get annoying inside. It's not my daily driver so I can take the bad with the good. Stinger can cause interior to resonate around 1800 rpms. But love the sound all around. Deep rumple and sounds menacing @ WOT. It's put a smile on many others as well as myself. Borla quality is excellent and fit pefect IMO.
In retrospect for a daily driver if doing again, I'd go std. borla.
Actually, the Steeda catbacks use borla's too. X-pipe will compliment straight thrus but say no to BBKs. Can't say about midpipe gains but they are supposed to net more than the catback. You did not specify O/R which would add to volume.
With only my catback, noticed small loss down low but pulls much stronger mid-upper rpms and above 50+.

it all depends on your version of loud...compared to my roush that has an o/r x with single chamber flows the stinger on the cobra was a pleasant change of pace and is in my opinion the perfect tone and volume for a mustang exhaust...it sounds mean

I have stingers on my 2001 GT auto, and its a daily driver, sounds perfect to me, more than enough to get people to turn their heads and set off alarms when starting the car in a car garage.

Makes me proud to be an american everytime i here it.

it is all about the midpipe. on these cars with four cats the midepipe is a big deal. it makes such a huge difference. I think many people don't relize how calm 4 cats make your exhaust. I mean stait pipe with 4 cats is not going to be crazy loud. the stinger with an o/r pipe may be a bit loud for some. the borla with an o/r pipe sounds great IMO. now if you keep the stock midepipe the regular borla will proably not give you the desired effect. I was dissapointed till I put my xpipe on. now it sounds perfect to me. I can drive the freeway without being anoyed and when I just land on people are going to stare. that is the way I like my daily.

I added a couple of Exhaust "DAMPER ASY-E" weighted brackets/clamps to mine. Part# F85Z-5G209-AA (Ford) and got them at a "discount price" of $22.84 each ...helped some.

My interior still "buzzes" near the rear seatbelt pivots. Might pull the rear interior panels where the belts come through and install some sound deadening material at the next oil change.
