I want a Borla cat-back for my 95 GT, however, I don't have $600.00. Finding a used one is pretty difficult, so I pose the following question.
Would it be cost effective to buy mufflers only and have a shop do the pipes?
Any chance they could do as good a job as Borla?
What diameter tubing do they use?
If I did decide to do this is there another muffler that is less expensive that sounds as good as the Borla?

If you're tight for money, I would just go for the mufflers. I have a Borla cat-back and the mufflers are 2 1/2" inlet/outlet. They also sound great! I'm not a big fan of the tips anyway, if I had it to do again I would probably just buy the mufflers and have a shop do it.

If the motorsport side exhaust kit your talking about has the fiberglass side skirts i eould pass, fiberglass cracks easy, first time you hit it hard. you can repair it which is nice but the repair and repaint wont be cheep, go with the poly sides , wosts thing is they can flake the paint, if the primer used is cheep, but id rather the repaint than the body work and...

I don't know about you, but I don't hit my side skirts very hard on anything that often. You're right, fiberglass does crack easily, but I think in this case its in a location that won't take that much abuse.

On the other hand I looked at a used GT a little while back with side exhaust and one of the side skirts was cracked, just be careful. BTW- That kit will look and sound great!

No, I don't have one, but I have heard and seen enough of them and I really like them. I didn't get one for my car b/c I auto-x and it won't work with subframe connectors, which I have.
