Borla, Flowmaster, or other?

I have a 2012 Mustang GT... I would like to get an axle back exhaust. Should I get Borla, Flowmaster, or ??? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My vote would be for the Roush axle backs; they're very loud outside the car, quiet inside, no drone.

Another vote for roush. Put them on my 2012 and love them. Not obnoxious but are an attention getter when u stand on it. And nice and quiet in cab on road trips. They fit and look great also

Roush does not make axle back mufflers, they come from China. That's what turned me off to Roush. I looked at most of the other brands and listened to axle backs that guys put on their cars at several gtg's. That is the best way to tell what the different brands sound like. My advice is to go to all the web sites and look them over. Play their sound bytes if they have them. Go with a brand that manufactures them and doesn't just re-brand them. Go with a brand that's made in the USA.

I chose Borla S-type Stingers because I heard them on a 2011 Mustang GT and the sound was what I wanted. The guy said there was zero drone and it was so when I put mine on. I also found out that Borla has made axle backs for Ford Racing and even Steeda. I think their web site is one of the best that I've gone to. I bought mine through: Mustangs Unlimited but they are available through many online suppliers.

Go to: www.borla.com They have a great site and they do a great test on their 3 different axel backs on a 2011 Mustang GT. Borla's are not a cheep axle backs but with a lifetime warranty and hi quality made in USA, I just had to buy them.

I never saw any "made in china" labels on the exhaust or box... did somebody at Roush tell you this? I'm not saying they aren't, just wondering how you found out?

I was helping my nephew put Roush axle backs on his new 2011 Mustang GT. I was visiting my brother up in Michigan and this was his son. He had opened the boxes already so we just put them on. There was a small box inside the big boxes which contained the tips. Those boxes clearly said: "Made in China". There was no marking on the big outside boxes. One thing you will find when buying parts and accessories for your Mustang, is that if the part or accessory is indeed made in the USA, it will be proudly stamped on the box the stuff comes in. When I headed back to Dallas, the thought of Roush doing such a ty thing really bothered me. Hey, Roush builds the best engines in Nascar and I support all of their drivers. When I got back home I sent Roush an email asking where their axle backs were made. I never got a response so I emailed them again. Never a response.

You own a proudly made in the USA Mustang. I believe it is our responsibility to support our country and not to mess up this Ford icon that means so much to all of us. Do you not care where anything comes from as long it is the cheapest? Then why did you buy an American icon? You can buy Civic's, Corrolla's, Sentra's, Kia's and all kinds of that junk and buy all kinds of imported junk to put on them. Take the following pledge:

I don't remember anything on the boxes that had the tips, but I might have just not been looking either. I tend to get excited when parts show up....lol

I do share your patriotism, but I understand that we live in a global economy too. I've got the Stang, but I also have a 3000GT, Tundra, Mazda B2500 and a Z28. All but one was made in the US.... and the vehicle I own with the highest North American content isn't the Ford or the Chevy either.

Before we get too far off topic... Roush exhaust seems like a "favorite" on most forums, it sounds good, the quality is above average, and the price is on target. With that said, if its really true that the system is made in China, then shame on them. But until somebody from Roush "gives up" the info, all we know for sure is; the tips are made in China.

BORLA S type are the best out there but way overpriced. GT500'S WITHOUT resonators is the best bang for your buck, Sounds amazing and a d@MN close second to the borla's. Plenty of YouTube vids out there to check out the gt500's without resonators. No drone at all.

i would EASILY go with the roush axle back. the borla type s is almost double the price and personally i feel like the roush sounds way better. you cant go wrong

Just emailed roush to find out for sure. But I have a question, do you really think every other part of our American made mustangs is really make in America? Lol I don't think so!

Here's what I think: I purchased a great American classic. I had no choice in what off shore parts Ford may have used. I do have a choice in what I buy to put on my American classic. If you want to be like 60% of Americans and don't care because someone said "it's a world economy" then go ahead and do what you want. Believe me, there are many Americans who believe as I do. I'm a combat veteran and you probably are not. My father was wounded at Pearl Harbor when we were not at war. Maybe if you look at what's happening to our country, talk to people who lost their American dream because of Japan, China, and Korea dumping their products on our market at less than cost to shut down American business. Pull your head out of your a$$. Quality and cheap price do not intersect. I will buy American quality every time. Another complaint I've heard more than once is that the Chinese Roush made mufflers rust prematurely. Stay away from Roush mufflers. Their other products are good as far as I know. When I don't know where something is made, I always ask before I hit the buy button.

I appreciate your service and your right I am not a vet. I understand and respect what u are saying, but if an American made product is twice the price of a similar non American made part I will probably not buy the American made part. It seems to me the American company is not respecting the American people but rather trying to take advantage of our loyalty by charging the prices they do on some things. If prices are similar and the parts are similar I will buy American for sure. Thanks and I will post where the roush mufflers are made once they return my email.:beer:
