BOSS, Mach1, Bullitt?

A Bullitt is expected to be produced for the 40th anniversary of the movie. But, it is unknown if the Bullitt will be the new Mach 1, or if it will just be a special edition GT, while a Boss, Mach, GT350, ect fills the middle slot. Anyway, everyone you talk to at Ford in the know says they are definately coming out with something, but you have to wait (at a minimum) until after the GT500 Vert is released. So don't expect it any sooner than 2007 as a 2008 model.

That is what I want to see. A stripped down model that has the sole purpose of inexpensive performance. Kinda like the old LX fox bodies. It would be great if they offered a car with almost the same performance level of the Cobra, without all the fancy stuff, sold at a good price. I'll give up power windows, locks, a/c, leather, chrome interior accents, mycolor, 1000 watt stereo, ect if they would make a solid 350-390hp mustang that weighs under 3,200lbs, all for less than $30,000. :hail2:

Yep! That's what the BOSS should be ...

There is a Buillit model in the pipeline for 2008. It will probably arrive in August of 2007 when they refresh the front end for the mid cycle refresh. It will probably only have the GT engine with a small increase in Horsepower. After that, I don't know... Haven't heard anything else.

2009MY is the refresh. Internally I've heard that the 3.5 will be the new base engine and the GT should see some performance increase. There are plans to do some other limited edition runs, hence why only 7200 Cobras are "planned" at this point going forward.

7200 ??? :bang:

I seem to remember you'd indicated a 10,000 unit run as the "planned" production :chair:

and even that's too small!

Months ago the talk internally was only a range up to 10K. I want to say this summer the 7,200 number came up. I haven't seen anything or heard anything else since that number. It's enough. Remember we had to throw cash on the 04 Cobras, we're not doing that this time.

So the bullit will mark the end of this front end... and then after that they will have the refresh. I guess that makes more sence to me. Didn't the last bullit only have 5hp more than the standard GT's? If Ford follows the same, I don't think the new one will have a bunch more horsepower. I can't wait for 2008!

I have heard rummors that after the bullit will be an "LX 5.0" I don't know if it's true but I thought I would spread the good word.
