I believe the 99 comes with 3.55 gears and a T-45 trans.

T45 yes, but stock rear gearing was 3.27.

Nice

Congrats on the new ride!

Yes we have the pathetic 3.27 gears and absolutely ZERO low end torque to compound the problem.... A set of 4.10 or 4.30 gears REALLY makes these cars fun.

After owning my 99 coupe for a few years I will tell you there are a few things you should know about these cars.

1) Check the oil level often. The 4valve engines have crappy valve jobs from the factory and will use oil. The most common type of catastrophic failure on these cars is cooked rod bearings due to low oil levels. I'd advise checking it every week or two or every few hundred miles or so and add oil as needed.

2) The factory IRS is a soft POS, BUT it has potential... Your first purchase (if you like go mash the go pedal) should be some new stiffer rear shocks and diff and control arm bushings. Especially since you have a vert you NEED to get a set of Maximum Motorsports or similar subframe connectors welded in, they will really stiffen up that chassis. I also strongly recommend installing a BilletFlow brand diff brace to keep the fragile aluminum diff cover from cracking under load.

3) Do not do any hard launches until you have put some stiffer material in the rear suspension. You will likely snap a halfshaft otherwise.

Well, that's the major stuff I think.

well

The factory subframe connectors are a joke. They are made of thin uncapped tubing and are probably already bent. Bolt-in connectors are not the answer.

Quality weld-in subframe connectors will make the car handle better and get rid of some of the squeaks and rattles.
