I bought a centerforce clutch setup new. A local transmission shop says that these are junk and recommends I buy something different. They say that they have countless returns and problems. Any help or opinions?

I've had mine (Dual Friction) for 2 years and about 20000 miles on it. I'm only making ~300 at the wheels, and have been to the track only a handful of times, but it's not failed me yet.

Is this tranny shop trying to sell you a clutch?

Tell the tranny shop dude to SHUTUP!!

I've got the centerforce II(the one before the dual friction) and I think it's perfect for my at tihis time. When I decide on which stroker to put in I will most likely go with the dual friction from center force...

Centerforce has been the standard in clutches for a very long time.

I've had my Centerforce 2 in my car for 4 years, no problems here! I don't know how many miles are on it, but I think I need to replace it soon, lol Although it doesn't slip at all, and never did, My next clutch will be a Dual Friction I think, great clutches!

Well at first it sounded like they were trying to sell me a different clutch and pressure plate pkg but he even said that I would be better off with the King cobra clutch.

**** everything and just get a Spec clutch. Never seen any evidence that they suck but I have been told by countless people they suck. Who know's what happened, some people don't think to break in a clutch so sometimes no matter the brand people have problems.

better off with a king cobra? hahaha yea right, the king cobra can't handle near as much horsepower and it is soo much stiffer. I blew out the king cobra at ~420rwhp and the ceterforce is goin with 520at the wheels no problem at all (dual friction)

Accually 2001driptizzy centerforce says there dual friction clutch is good for 500hp +/-. I say its more - and I'm sure the nos doesn't help.
CENTERFORCE DUAL FRICTION
Not to mention at high revs it doesn't release.
Take my word for it I've been there.....

spec is great but centerforce has proven themself alot in teh past...i have one (dual friction) and love it...and it only has a tad bit harder clutch feel..if harder at all...if u want to have a sore foot and thigh then go with teh crap ass king cobra...my friend has one and its so incredibly annoying to push...tell the tranny guy to huff a donkey wang and get the centerforce..the clutches hes showing u could be toast from any # of reasons
