BOV on SC Motor

my freind has a teg and i think its called a MAP sensor on there. and yes the BOV is before the MAP on his car but the bypass valve is after the MAF on my car. his BOV has a lil pipe that would be perfect to attach a hose too just like the one on my bypass valve, if the BOV works the same way as my bypass valve i still dont get how it wouldnt work. teach me

btw its a BOV of a eclipse i think

Need? Nah.... it can be anywhere between the compressor and the throttle body. After the MAF, at worst the engine runs rich for a second or two. That's not going to hurt anything.

Dave

yes I like dumping fuel into the motor after i let off

doing that is worse then you think it is, i drove my friends car when he had his BOV vented to the atmosphere an when you would let it blow off it would like buck an act stupid. he didnt have a long enough hose to vent it back to his intake so he had no choice at the time, sure sounded cool but it didnt feel good at all.

My integra is run off of a map (manifold absolute pressure) sensor instead of your mass air flow sensor. your ecu determines fuel based upon the air flow going into your engine. mine is based on the amount of pressure. so i suppose, as long as your bov is before the maf sensor then you will be fine (in both setups the ecu will see the right amount of pressure/air flow and not run rich). But if yours is after the maf, then your ecu will not see that the pressure is being released before it gets to the engine, and then it will dump more fuel causing that instantaneous richness. Someone correct me if im wrong, i think this is right.

It really depends on how long the car will run rich, and how rich it will run. I mean, if the rpm's drop dramatically, then you will have a harder time shifting & rev matching into the next gear (when you speed shift especially).

Seems completely dumb to have the bov after the maf.

And if there isn't room, MAKE ROOM

is the BOV before the maf?

it needs to be

power adder > BOV> MAF > TB > motor

alot of imports have mafless setups... like a haltech system or many stand alones.

does your friend have a stand alone?

that sucks for me. my vortech kit has the MAF attatched to the filter which will hide in the fenderwell...someone told me that i can replace the Bypass valve with the BOV with no problem
