Bracket Rod At Back Of Intake

On dis-assembly of intake there was a rod that ran from the rear upper passenger side intake bolt, to the rear lower drivers side intake bolt. What was the purpose if this rod? The only thing I can think of is maybe a hoisting point for pulling the engine. Is that correct?
