Has anyone done a brake conversion? My drum brakes need to be repaired or replaced and I would like to add disc brakes on the front and rear. I have a 66 convertible with power brakes. Any brands or sugestion would be great!

I bought a set from Master Power. The conversion is very simple. I paid less for a power front disc brake setup from them than I would have paid for a manual setup from SSBC or Baer. Good luck

Personally, I don't think rear disc brakes do much... Something to think about if the budget gets tight.

don't do much what?

Sometimes drums may be lighter, some setups even provide more braking force than discs. However discs look a million time better behind a 17" wheel.

Rear brakes should only account for 29% of braking. YES, drums are more than adequate in the rear. You go with discs to shave weight or for appearance.

I'm just finishing (got to bleed them and check for leaks) a power front disk conversion from Master Power. I wouldn't call it a peice of cake, but it hasn't been too bad. Biggest PIA was drilling the hardened threads out of the pedal support (need a 1/2 drill) for the booster, and then fabricating the lines to connect to the factory ones. This was harder because the old ones had to be cut off at the distribution block and it was my first attempt at double flaring the lines. If I'd done it before it would have been easier no doubt.
The disks and rotors, soft lines, etc. bolted right up to the drum spindles.
