so i went to an 03 cobra spoiler on my 99 mustang gt and the connectors on the 3rd brake light are different, the gt ones are 4 wires and the cobra one is just 2, is there a wire harness for this or can i hardwire it to work by splicing the wires? anyone done this yet?
I think there's a pigtail kit out there somewhere. I kinda remember someone talking about this a while ago, but not 100%. Epik might know, he did the swap too.
ok here is the deal on the wiring... they both use the same colored wires just different connectors... according to the wiring diagrams on both vehicles a 99gt and 03 cobra.
Dark Green - Feed wire
Black - Ground
Just splice these two together... should work....
as far as the other two wires in that connector.. its possible they are for the tag lights... so u might have to leave the stock harness in there and either modify it/and or remove the stock 3rd light but the harness side of it...

well to install the spoiler you have to take out the gt brake light which has the lights for the tags, so i guess i need to pull the lights and harness of the brake light and modify it to sit in the proper place to light up the tags? hhhmmm time to get creative i suppose thanks for the help!
ok so heres what i did in case anyone ever does this swap too,
1 cut off wire harness from 3rd GT brake light leaving maybe 3 inches of wire
2 remove the outer two wires from harness by simply pulling them out, leaving only the black and green wire still in the connectors end
3 cut off connector on cobra spoiler that has the green and black wires
4 use electrical connectors and connect the green with the green and the black with the black with the gt plug u just cut off the gt 3rd brake light and attach to the cobra wires
5 plug the new cobra spoiler into the gt harness......done
ps the two other wires are to the trunk light that is removed when the gt 3rd brake light is taken out, have no function but to turn on light when u pop trunk
