I am having problems with getting two brake lights. How can I test the brake light switch ? On the two contact points should there be current ? If so is each contact for each side ? Then do I just go down the line with a test light to find the break or what ?

Thanks

One contact is a 12v source from the fuse block and the other contact is the one that carries the current to the brake lights when the pedal is depressed. Simply take a voltmeter and determine which side is the 12v and then verify that the other contact/wire gets 12v when the brake pedal is depressed slightly....if it doesn't then the switch is the problem. But it one brake light works and the other doesn't then the switch is not the culprit and it is probably the socket at the tail light or the wiring itself.

Or the Turn signal switch could be the problem too.
It controls the lamps for the brake light operation also.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.
