Brake spring color question

Most (if not all ) of you will think this is an extreamly trival question. That's okay, because it is! Those of you who have gone trough this know that the spring in the picture is no longer available from any source. When rebuilding my brakes I just couldn't put that old spring back in without painting it first. I'm sure you understand, right? The problem is, I've gotten conflicting reports on the correct color. I was told it was blue, so I went ahead and painted it blue, but since then I've been told it's red. So how about it guys and gals. Anybody remember from their last brake rebuild what color this spring is? TIA
